Thinking about a Church wedding?

St Mark’s Church offers a beautiful and meaningful setting for weddings, making it an excellent choice for couples seeking a sacred and memorable celebration. Here are some compelling reasons to consider St. Mark’s Church for your wedding:

  1. Inclusive Love and Community:
St Mark’s is a Christian church that embraces the inclusive love of Jesus. Whether you’re a regular churchgoer or someone seeking a spiritual connection, you’ll find a warm welcome at St. Mark’s.
  2. Reverence for Marriage:
Christians believe that marriage is a gift from God and one of the most profound relationships in which to share love and family life. St Mark’s celebrates marriages as examples of love and commitment, rejoicing in unions that endure happily and faithfully for many years.
  3. Public Declaration of Commitment:
A church wedding provides a public platform to voice your commitment to marriage. It’s a place where lovers can share the deepest bonds of love, friendship, and life’s adventure. St Mark’s recognizes the importance of publicly affirming the sanctity of marriage.
  4. Private Yet Significant:
While marriage is a private bond, it holds immense public importance. By celebrating your wedding at St Mark’s, you contribute to passing on the belief in marriage as a supreme sharing experience to future generations.
  5. Renewal of Marriage Vows:
St. Mark’s also offers a special service for renewing marriage vows. This service allows couples to celebrate their enduring commitment and thank God for their marriage. It serves as an encouragement to children and grandchildren, demonstrating that marriages can be a source of rich blessings.

If you’re considering a church wedding, St. Mark’s provides a supportive and welcoming environment

Feel free to reach out to the Vicar, Eileen, who will be happy to discuss your plans and guide you through the process

There are circumstances in which you would be able to be married at St Mark’s – the best thing is to talk with the Vicar.  She can first give you some written information and will then be happy to see you for further discussion if you wish.

It is best to discuss your preferred date with the vicar before you confirm your reception arrangements.

The Vicar will arrange to meet with you on at least two occasions prior to the wedding for Marriage Preparation.  This includes looking in detail at the Service and what you would like in the way of music, flowers, etc.  Arrangements would also be made for your Banns to be read.  Then a date is fixed for a rehearsal for yourselves, and those who will be assisting with the Marriage Ceremony (eg. Best Man, Bridesmaids etc).

Do come along to one of our services on a Sunday when you will be able to meet the Vicar and find out more. You may also find it useful to follow this link to the Church of England website on Marriage.
